Facebook Ads Audit for Clinics: The 25-Point Checklist

Quick answerA clinic Meta ads audit checks five areas: compliance with the NMC guidelines and Meta's health policy, account ownership and tracking, targeting and budget, creative and lead forms, and follow-up and reporting. Score each of the 25 points below as pass or fail. Fix compliance failures first, then follow-up speed, because those two usually decide whether ads turn into patients.

A Facebook ads audit for a clinic takes about 30 minutes and usually finds money leaking in the same places. Most clinic ad accounts we review have the same handful of problems: ads that now break the NMC guidelines of 6 October 2026, tracking that stopped working, broad targeting, and leads that wait hours for a reply. Use this 25-point checklist to audit your own Facebook and Instagram ads in about 30 minutes. Mark each point pass or fail, then fix the failures in the order of the sections.

Section 1: Compliance (points 1 to 6)

  1. No patient testimonials in any active ad, boosted post or landing page (NMC guidelines).
  2. No before-and-after photos in ads.
  3. No "best", "No.1", "guaranteed", "permanent" or "100%" claims.
  4. No discount, coupon, cashback or "free procedure" hooks that push people toward unnecessary treatment.
  5. Posts that name a doctor show name, qualifications and registration number (The South First).
  6. Meta rules: 18+ targeting for cosmetic procedures and IVF; no "cure, heal or eliminate" claims; no statements attacking appearance (Meta).

Section 2: Account and tracking (points 7 to 11)

  1. The clinic owns the ad account, page and Business Manager; the agency is a partner.
  2. Ad spend is charged to the clinic's own card.
  3. Pixel or Conversions API is installed and the Events Manager shows no health-data warnings you have ignored. Meta limits lower-funnel optimisation for many health advertisers, so check what is still available (Accelerated Digital Media).
  4. Landing page URLs do not contain sensitive health details (condition names in URLs can trigger restrictions).
  5. Every lead is recorded in one place: a CRM or a shared sheet.

Section 3: Targeting and budget (points 12 to 16)

  1. Location radius matches how far patients really travel (often 5 to 15 km for a clinic).
  2. Age settings follow the treatment and Meta's rules.
  3. Budget is enough to learn: one campaign with a few ad sets beats ten tiny ones.
  4. Campaign objective matches the goal: leads or messages, not traffic or reach, for bookings.
  5. Seasonality is planned: for example, Google Trends shows "hospital marketing" peaking in early December and hair transplant interest in Tamil Nadu peaking in December (Google Trends).

Section 4: Creative and lead forms (points 17 to 21)

  1. At least three active creatives, refreshed every two to four weeks.
  2. Creative leads with facts: doctor qualifications, technology, timings, location and fees.
  3. Video under 30 seconds with captions, since many people watch without sound.
  4. Lead form asks two or three qualifying questions (treatment, preferred time, area).
  5. Thank-you screen offers a next step: WhatsApp chat or a booking link.

Section 5: Follow-up and reporting (points 22 to 25)

  1. Every enquiry gets a reply within five minutes in clinic hours.
  2. Staff use a short, compliant WhatsApp script with fees and available slots.
  3. Each lead is marked: contacted, booked, arrived, treated.
  4. A weekly report shows spend, enquiries, cost per enquiry, booked and arrived visits.

Fix order: compliance first (it protects the account), follow-up second (it decides bookings), creative third.

How to run this audit in 30 minutes

  1. Minutes 1 to 10: open Ads Manager, filter to active ads, and read every ad and its landing page against points 1 to 6.
  2. Minutes 10 to 15: check Business Settings and Events Manager for points 7 to 11.
  3. Minutes 15 to 22: review each ad set's location, age, budget and objective (points 12 to 16).
  4. Minutes 22 to 26: preview your lead form on a phone (points 17 to 21).
  5. Minutes 26 to 30: send a test enquiry and time how long the clinic takes to reply (points 22 to 25).

The test enquiry is the most revealing step. Many clinics discover that a weekend lead waits until Monday.

Common problems we find in clinic ad accounts

  • Old boosted posts with testimonials still running months later.
  • Leads sent to an email inbox nobody checks on weekends.
  • Traffic campaigns sending people to a home page with no fees or booking option.
  • Ten ad sets of Rs.100 a day each, none of which ever exits learning.

Frequently asked questions

A structured review of a clinic's Facebook and Instagram advertising: compliance with medical advertising rules, account ownership and tracking, targeting and budget, creative and lead forms, and how quickly enquiries are followed up. It ends with a prioritised list of fixes.

Do a full audit once a quarter and a quick compliance check whenever rules change, as they did with the NMC guidelines on 6 October 2026. Review the weekly report every week so problems such as slow follow-up are caught early.

The usual causes are slow replies, lead forms with no qualifying questions, ads that attract price-shoppers, and no clear fee or booking step. Points 20 to 25 of this checklist cover these. Fixing response time alone often improves bookings.

Yes. The 20-minute call is free and there is no obligation to sign. We review your ads, Google profile and follow-up, give you your score and the top three fixes, and quote a flat monthly fee only if you want us to run the work.

Screenshots and a short screen share are enough for the first call. If you later work with us, you add Upsky Media as a partner in your own Business Manager, and you can remove that access at any time.
