How to design a football jersey in CorelDRAW

From blank pattern to a print-ready kit with names, numbers and matching shorts.

Updated 18 Oct 2026
To design a football jersey in CorelDRAW, import the pattern pieces at print size, fill each with the base colour, place stripes or patterns with PowerClip so they flow across seams, add the crest and sponsor, then add name and number fields on the back and number fields on the front and shorts. Save it as a template for every team.

1. Set up pattern pieces

Import front, back, sleeves, collar and shorts at size M, at real size. Add 1 to 2 cm of bleed around each. Lock the cut lines on their own layer.

2. Base colours

Fill each piece with its base colour. Use the colour codes from your colour test print, because fabric shows colours differently from the screen.

3. Patterns and stripes

  1. Draw stripes, hoops or a sublimated pattern as one group larger than the pieces.
  2. Use Object, PowerClip, Place Inside Frame to put the pattern into the front piece.
  3. Duplicate the pattern and place it in the back and sleeves so lines continue across seams.
  4. Use Transparency for fades and gradients, a common look on modern kits.

4. Crest, sponsor and kit maker

Place the crest on the left chest, the main sponsor across the chest and any maker logo on the right chest. Keep logos as vectors and convert text logos to curves.

5. Names and numbers

On the back, add the name about 8 to 10 cm below the collar and the number below it. On adult kits FIFA's ranges are 5 to 7.5 cm for names and 25 to 35 cm for back numbers. Add a front number (10 to 15 cm) and a shorts number (10 to 15 cm) if the league uses them. See the size guide.

6. Shorts

Match the shorts to the shirt with the same stripe or trim colour. Put the number on the front left leg.

7. Save as a template

Save the finished design as a template. For every team order after this, only the colours, crest and roster change. With AJILE, the roster step is automatic: each player's shirt and shorts are built and exported from the team's Excel sheet.

Questions

Which CorelDRAW tools are most useful for jersey design?

PowerClip (to place patterns inside pattern pieces), the Blend and Contour tools for stripes and outlines, Transparency for gradients, and the Objects docker to keep layers organised.

How do I make stripes line up across the seams?

Draw the stripes once across a combined front-and-sleeve area, then PowerClip the same stripe group into each piece so it is continuous.

Where do sponsors go on a football shirt?

The main sponsor usually sits across the chest, with the crest on the left chest and kit maker logo on the right. Check league rules for size limits.
